Are you yearning to learn? This is the month to do it. Resorts throughout the country are taking part in “National Learn to Ski and Ride Month.”
Both Alpine Meadows and Squaw Valley ski resorts in Lake Tahoe are participating in the January program, which features huge discounts to encourage newcomers to learn how to ski or snowboard.
Both Squaw and Alpine Meadows are offering four $39 Learn to Ski and Snowboard Days. For just $39, adult first-time skier and snowboarders can get a half-day lesson, beginner lift ticket and equipment rentals for just $39.
This year’s $39 Learn to Ski and Snowboard Days are Jan. 12 and Jan. 26 at Squaw and Jan. 13 and 27 at Alpine Meadows.
First-time skiers and riders will have the choice between a morning or afternoon adult group lesson as part of the $39 package.
Morning lessons will run from 10 a.m. to12:30 p.m., while afternoon lessons will run from 1-3:30 p.m.
Beginners can sign up for the learn to ski program in the Squaw or Alpine rental shops on the designated Learn to Ski and Snowboard Days.
For those that find they are hooked after just one lesson, there is the option to upgrade to get the additional two days of the Three-Day Progression Package for $160.
The Progression Package includes a total of three days of lessons, lift tickets, rental equipment, and a learn-to-turn guarantee for ages 13-above.
Lessons can be taken consecutively or spread throughout the season. Without upgrading, this package is offered daily throughout the season for just $299.
