Last week we looked at some letter L activities. This week we will have fun with the letter M. Choose the activities that best fit your child's age and interests and be sure to check the photo album at the bottom of the page for pictures of example activities.
Letter M activity options:
- Think about words that begin with M. Letter M words include mother, moose, mouse, milk, morning, May, Mickey Mouse, mint, music, mystery, mummy, map, melon, mad, monkey, marshmallow, mosquito, muscle, magic, Mozart, mix, make, mile, money, maze, movie, monster, moon, mirror, marina, microphone, mermaid, mustard, manicure and motorcycle.
- Give your child a letter M manicure. Using a washable marker or nontoxic nail polish, draw an M on each of your child's fingernails.
- Make an M shape out of marshmallows.
- Make a letter M map. Label places that begin with the letter M such as Madrid, Miami, Michigan and Mexico.
- M is for mirror. Using window crayons, decorate your bathroom mirror with the letter M.
- Celebrate your study of the letter M by eating foods like mangoes, manicotti, marshmallows, mints, mustard, milk and melon.
- Glue macaroni noodles to a sheet of paper in the shape of M.
- Make a letter M maze like the one in the slide show.
- Take a field trip to a movie theater, marina or mall.
- Make an M maize craft. Glue decorative corn to construction paper in the shape of M.
- Carve a melon as you would a pumpkin. Make the shape of M.
- Make a money M. Using various coins, make the shape of the letter on a table.
- To make a letter M mitten like the one in the photograph, trace the outside of your child's hand on a sheet of construction paper. Fold it in half and cut out the shape so that you have two mittens. Use a puncher to punch holes around the outside edges and thread yarn through the holes. Decorate with the letter M.
- Sing some letter M songs. See Everything Preschool for a list.
