Last time we looked at letter G activities. Now we will take a look at how you can explore the letter H with your child. Be sure to check the photo album at the bottom of the page for pictures of letter H activities.

Letter H activity options:

  • Words that begin with H include honey, hula hoop, honk, horn, helicopter, hot dog, haystack, hamburger, house, hippo, happy, hat, horse, hole, heart, hand and hair.
  • Use honey to make an H on a slice of toast.
  • Draw an H and then make it hairy by pasting strips of thread to it.
  • Use a permanent marker to decorate a hula hoop with the letter H.
  • Cut an H-shaped hole in the top of a shoebox. Go through old junk mail and cut out each word that you see that begins with H. Drop the cutouts in the hole.
  • Eat letter H foods like hash browns, hamburgers, hot dogs and hot fudge sundaes.
  • Decorate a hat with the letter H
  • Make letter H hand tattoos with washable markers.
  • Try using some of the free, printable letter H activities from DLTK.
  • Find letter H songs and rhymes at Everything Preschool.
  • Check your library for books on this list.
  • Take a field trip to jump some hay bales, see a hippopotamus at the zoo or to a bee farm to see where honey comes from.
  • Incorporate geography by teaching kids about letter H locations such as Haiti and Hawaii.
