ALO's Tour D'Amour VII wraps up in San Francisco (Photos)

Animal Liberation Orchestra, San Francisco's very own Pied-Pipers of California-Happy-Happy-Fun-Time-Jammy-Yacht-Funk-Rock, (™) are returning home to wrap up their seventh annual Tour D'Amour with a two-night run this coming weekend at The Fillmore.

Friday the 22nd features a "Pretty in Pink Prom" theme and opening act, San Francisco's Gypsy-pirate-rockers, Diego's Umbrella.

Saturday the 23rd's theme is "Glamorama Gala" and features opening act and former Oakland-BART-Station-Bluesy-buskers, The California Honeydrops.

I had the great fortune of catching ALO on their Tour D'Amour V in 2011, and it was one of the best shows I saw that year, or any other for that matter. This year they have a new album of material to draw from, 2012's "Sounds Like This", which may be their most complete record to date. As good as they are on wax (vinyl?mp3?), ALO is at their improvisational best during their raucous, high-energy live shows, and I can't wait to experience some of these new tracks as God intended (right up front, stage left, by Lebo).

I also happened upon Diego's Umbrella playing a guerrilla set atop a Winnebago a few years back at High Sierra Music Festival, which was more than enough to make me giddy at the prospect of catching their full act at The Fillmore.

Though I've never had occasion to see the Honeydrops in person, if this is any indication, they are more than up to the task of warming up a room, if not outright setting it ablaze.

ALO w/ Diego's Umbrella, The Fillmore, Feb. 22nd, $32.50 ($22.50 + $10 "Convenience Charge". I thought Eddie Vedder was doing something about those... C'est la vie, I suppose. They're well worth it, and part of the proceeds go to Girls Rock Camp Santa Barbara)

9:00 PM both nights.

Now, where can I find one of Ducky's sweet Bolo ties....
