Almirola To Sub for Injured Annett in Nationwide Series Beginning at Phoenix

This weekend Richard Petty Motorsports will have a substitute driver in their No. 43 entry in the Nationwide Series.

Usual driver Michael Annett was involved in an incident approximately midway through Saturday's DRIVE4COPD 300 season-opening race at the Daytona International Speedway. It was announced later in the race that Annett had been taken from the infield care center to Halifax Medical Center, located near the speedway.

Today, RPM announced that Annett suffered at broken and dislocated sternum. Annett will be undergoing surgery in Charlotte, the home base for RPM's race shop, but as of now he is indefinitely out of the No. 43 Mustang.

Aric Almirola, who drives the team's No. 43 Smithfield Ford Fusion in Sprint Cup, will take over in the Nationwide Series beginning this weekend. Almirola opened the season with a 13th-place finish in the Daytona 500.

Saturday's Dollar General 200 Fueled by AmeriGas will be on ESPN2 at 4:30 p.m. ET.
