Allow Jesus to cleanse your conscience

A Daily Word from the Word for Wednesday, March 5, 2014

“How much more shall the Blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?” – Hebrews 9:14

What a wonderful promise! The Bible is rich and overflowing with God’s assurances and promises for His sons and daughters. The Father’s children need not have a guilty conscience. When Jesus went to the cross for us, He took away all of our guilt and shame. He nailed it to the cross and left it there permanently when He rose into victory and glory, where the Savior now sits at the right hand of the Father, mediating on our behalf (Mark 16:19, 1 Timothy 2:5).

The “Blood” of Christ is haima (pr. hah-ee-mah), meaning “the atoning Blood of Christ” (Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance). Merriam-Webster’s Dictionary defines “atoning” as “to make amends.” When we receive Jesus Christ as our personal Lord and Savior, ask Him to forgive us, and to live permanently within us, He sprinkles us clean with His atoning, spotless, and sinless blood.

The Greek word for “cleanse” is katharizo (pr. kath-ar-id-zo), which means “make clean, purge, purify.” According to Webster, “purge” is “to clear of guilt, to free from moral defilement, to make free of something unwanted.” Wow! Are you catching this, family?! Are you finding freedom in the Blood of the Lamb?

Jesus, by His blood, makes us free from unwanted sin by liberating us from the clutches of that oppressive, lying, condemning devil called Satan. You are now free to stomp on His head! To do a little dance on the demon who tried to steal your life! Whereas, the devil had you bound; the blood of Jesus flips the script, and puts this dastardly derelict under your feet! (Romans 16:20, Luke 10:19).

There is freedom in the Blood! The amazing, transforming, life-saving, life-giving, and life-changing blood of Jesus releases you from dead works and liberates you to move freely in the living God. That’s right, brethren. The Greek word for “works” is ergon (pr. er-gon) which is “struggle, battle, long strenuous fatiguing labor”; and to serve (latreyo, pr. lat-ryoo-o) is to “minister to God.”

Tired of the rat race, my brother? Worn out by the diminishing works of the world, my sister? Then allow the Blood of the One who took captivity captive, to set you free (Ephesians 4:8). For the one who the Son sets free, is free indeed (John 8:36). Choose this day and every day to live in the freedom of the Father.

Father, thank You for the Blood of your Son, Jesus Christ. We look to Jesus, the One who took captivity captive, and we accept His blood as the atoning sacrifice for our sins; inviting the Savior to be Lord over us and over our lives, and to permanently live within us. Thank you, Jesus, for dying for us. It is in your Precious Name, that we are saved, and we thank You that we have been made free, and that the devil no longer has any power or authority over us; in truth, the devil is now under our feet! Amen and Amen!

Take action! Challenge your thinking! Choose to receive the free gift of salvation found only in the Blood of Jesus Christ. Choose to let go of dead works, and be liberated in the life of the Father. Make a daily habit of decreeing and declaring that you are washed in the Blood! And continue to fight the good fight of walking in your God-given authority and remembering that the devil is under your feet; for God, your Cleansing Power, has already given you the victory!

If you have never received Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior, I encourage you to do it today, right now, by saying this prayer out loud: “Jesus, forgive me for my sins. I am sorry. I truly desire to be saved and reconciled back to God, my Father, through You. I receive Your sinless Blood as payment in full for my sins—past, present, and future. I now call You my Lord and Savior, and invite You to live within my heart, and to permanently live within me. I make You Lord over me and over my life from this moment on. Amen.” Congratulations! You are now a child of God, made whole and made new, by the Blood of Jesus Christ!
