The Alliance for the Arts has announced that it will be hosting the Advance Team for Up With People, who will be spending a month in Fort Myers preparing for the international cast of Up with People due to arrive on February 11.
Up with People is a global education and service program focused on bringing the world together through service and music. The international cast of 120 students from 20 countries will be in Fort Myers for one week. During their time in the area they will live with local host families, volunteer in the local community and perform two international shows at North Fort Myers High
School.
There are several ways southwest Floridians can help, including hosting cast members for a week and attending their show “Voices” on Sunday, February 17. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students, seniors & children. They can be purchased online at http://www.upwithpeople.org/fortmyers/ or onsite at the Alliance.
The 120-member cast is between the ages of 18 and 29 years old and represents 20 different countries. Cast members are out of the house during regular business hours, volunteering, rehearsing or taking part in educational workshops. Saturday, February 16, is a 'host family day,' on which you may choose to show them around your city, include them in a family event or simply relax at home.
The Alliance for the Arts proudly supports artists and arts organizations in our area as the state designated Local Arts Agency for Lee County.
