Allergy free Valentine's Day gifts

For those who suffer from allergies, Valentine's Day can be a challenge. From sneeze triggering flowers to allergenic chocolates, many allergy sufferers are left out when it comes to traditional Valentine's Day gifts.

Here are some allergy-free gift ideas for your favorite Valentine. Come back tomorrow for allergy-free Valentine's Day recipes.

  • Super Hero Sucker: Use fabric scraps, cardstock or construction paper to fashion a super hero cape and mask and attach to a large sucker. Suckers have about 50 calories and last longer than a bite of chocolate.
  • Book and bookmark. Make a bookmark from cardstock, patterned paper, felt, fabric or ribbon. Add an inexpensive book purchased from Goodwill Columbus.
  • Jewelry is a great gift, but not for those allergic to metals such as nickel. Choose sterling silver or gold to avoid skin rashes from exposure to nickel. Or, choose something less expensive but equally beautiful, such as pearls, wooden beads or a brooch.
  • Allergy-free foods can be expensive. If your Valentine has food allergies, consider a gift basket of foods he or she can eat.
