Allentown's Lights in the Parkway uses hundreds of thousands of shining lights with animated displays, lighted trees, and tunnels to brighten the holiday season. It is a drive-thru lighting display traveling 1 1/2 mile in the picturesque Lehigh Parkway.

The drive-thru experience is designed to delight young and old alike. Completion of the route viewing displays takes about 25 minutes, although a line may exist waiting to start the circuit tour. Specially synchronized holiday music may be enjoyed for the event by tuning in your cars radio to 98.3 FM. Don’t forget to bring your camera to record this year’s event.

Allentown's Lights in the Parkway is in its 16th season. Starting 1996 it is estimated that two million visitors have enjoyed Lights in the Parkway coming from every state in the country. The last season’s participation was 18,372 vehicles visiting the attraction, averaging 600 vehicles each night.

The Christmas tradition of giving is integral with the event with hundreds of people participating to make the drive-thru a success. The central role of the event is as a charitable venture with a modest charge for each vehicle. Event proceeds are given to non-profit volunteer organizations. Over its history $301,366.08 has been donated to non-profit organizations such as little league, high school teams, scout troops, etc.

New attractions include carriage rides, ice carving, and the Lights in the Parkway 5K. Don’t forget to stop by and visit the Gift Barn for bargains on Christmas crafts and gifts. Goals for this years lighting display have been to convert it’s lighting to modern LED’s due to their use of 72% less electricity resulting in lower cost. Plus long lasting bulbs eliminate periodic bulb replacement.

Allentown of Lehigh County has a population of 118,032 as the fastest growing city in Pennsylvania. It is the 222nd largest city in the US located on the Lehigh River, 10 miles west of Bethlehem. It is located 50 miles north of Philadelphia, 80 miles east of Harrisburg, and 90 miles west of New York City. Allentown has 2,000 acres of park grounds, Lights in the Parkway travels through some of the park ground.

Allentown is a 290 mile drive taking 4 ½ hours from Rochester NY. Drive I-90 east to Syracuse then US 81 south past Binghamton into Pennsylvania. In Scranton take US 476 south then east on route 22 to the Seventh Street Exit take route 145 south through Allentown. At the bottom of the Lehigh Street hill, turn right at the traffic signal onto Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive. Then, follow the signs to Lights In The Parkway.
