Snacky Matz, a vending machine company based in Allentown, is hoping to get companies interested in a different type of vending machine; one that offers healthy snack and drink choices.
The company was started by Terrie and Pete Matz about six months ago, after Terrie was diagnosed with a disorder caused by eating gluten. Gluten is a wheat byproduct or an actual protein found in wheat barley, and rye, that some can develop an intolerance for or sensitivity to.
Gluten free snacks are also beneficial for diabetics and those that are lactose intolerant. The company is willing to place and maintain the machines for free to any organization wanting to have one.
Snacky Matz is also willing to customize the products in the vending machine, which range from iced cappuccinos to protein smoothies and veggie chips. An organization can choose form an offering of over 1,100 items through tasting sessions to determine which ones taste better and what customers like more.
Having the vending machines can also be considered part of a wellness program, and help to keep health insurance costs down.
