Allen Americans win the fight against Mississippi

ALLEN, Texas -- Friday night at Allen Event Center was a sloppy game that the Allen Americans were happy to win 5-4 over the Mississippi RiverKings.

Allen gave Mississippi twelve powerplay opportunities and the RiverKings capitalized on two of those chances. Allen had eight chances of its own and pounded home one powerplay goal.

Mississippi started the scoring at twelve minutes of the first period. Allen answered right back to take the lead with scores by Nathan ONabigon and Bruce Graham. The RiverKings took advantage of a powerplay to tie the score at two ending the period.

Bruce Graham scored his second goal of the night to give the Americans the lead. Minutes later the RiverKing's Louis Dumont tied the score at three. Allen answered right back when Nino Musitelli scored giving the hosts the one goal advantage.

Ryan Fairbarn scored Allen's only powerplay goal of the night giving the Americans a two goal lead that it was able to keep for the win. Allen is second in the Central Hockey League with 63 points and trails Southern Conference leader Odessa by eleven points.
