In January 2011, the FDA approved the antihistamine Allegra to be sold over-the-counter.

Sanofi-aventis, the manufacturer of Allegra, says that Allegra should be on store shelves by early March, plenty of time before spring allergies begin.

In addition to Allegra 12 hour and 24 hour tablets for adults, other Allegra products that will be available are:

· Children’s Allegra 12 hour tablets for children 6 years and older

· Allegra liquid for children 2 years and older

· Children’s Allegra oral disintegrating tablets for children 6 years and older

· Allegra-D 12 hour and 24 hour for children and adults 12 years and older

At the present time, none of the companies that make the generic, fexofenadine, have announced any products to be sold over-the-counter.
