A Maine man was arrested last Thursday on drunken driving charges after police said he drove into the parking lot of the state police barracks in Riverside.

Investigators allege James Griffin, 47, of Portland, Maine, was drunk behind the wheel when he pulled into the parking lot of the state police barracks in Riverside last Thursday night.

When troopers noticed his black Dodge pickup truck pull into the lot around 11:30 p.m., they went to interview the driver and “detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage,” a news release said.

Griffin allegedly failed a sobriety test at the scene and a breath analysis showed his blood-alcohol-content was .10 percent, above the legal limit of .08 percent, police said Monday.

He was released on an appearance ticket and is due to appear in Southampton Town Court on Feb. 12.
