Marion 'Curt' Conley, 79, a suspect in the shooting death of 37-year old Jody Ray Snyder, was arrested Wednesday, March 20, 2013 on one count of felony homicide and could be arraigned today. Conley is being held at the Allegan County Jail on a $765,000 bond.

On March 9, 2013, Snyder was found dead in the living room of the home and suffered from multiple gunshot wounds.

Conley is the homeowner and landlord to Snyder, who lived on the 3900 block of 122nd Avenue in Valley Township. Snyder's 18-year old son also resided in the rental home. Snyder had been living in the rental house for approximately three years but was supposed to be moving out within a few days. Conley had been over to the rental home the Friday prior to the shooting to help Snyder with some manual labor. He alleges that there was damage done to the home by Snyder. Conley also alleges that despite the 'trashed and dented' condition of the home, he felt sorry for Snyder because he had lost his job and fallen on tough financial times, which was confirmed by Snyder's ex-wife, Lisa Ison.

I am baffled. I am sad. We all knew Jody had financial problems and problems, you know, but that doesn't make up for someone to go out and shoot him.

Shortly after Snyder's body was found, Conley had been brought in for questioning by the Allegan County Sheriff's Department and then released. When Conley was interviewed by various news media sources, he seemed surprised that he appeared to be 'suspect' in the case and expressed his hopes that the real killer would be found.

After investigations were conducted by the Allegan County Sheriff's Department, Conley was arrested and charged with Snyder's murder.

Family and friends of Snyder's remember him fondly and express great sorrow about his death. Despite having financial struggles, Snyder was remembered as a good father who loved his son. Snyder's former longtime girlfriend, Tammy Kiekover, also shared her feelings,

He's helped me raise my children. He's even offering to give my daughter his kidney. He was just an awesome man.
