All you need to know for February 1, 2013

The unemployment rate rose again today. Not to worry though, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said yesterday the American economy is "in a recovery" despite the decline in the nation's gross domestic product (GDP). Unfortunately, Herbert Hoover also said that the economy was in recovery in the winter of 1929. Harry Hoover, I like it!

Okay up on the Hill, the man now affectionately known as “Hagel the Bagel” shakily fielded questions yesterday.
The defense secretary nominee looked like Cindy Brady at the spelling bee as he was pelted with questions from Senators Lindsey Graham and John McCain.
Chuck Hagel is clearly not a friend of the Tribe, but many worry that he’s far too comfortable with the current set up in Iran. Let’s just say he’s probably not wearing an “Ayatollah Assahollah” teeshirt.

Hagel will get lock step votes from Jewish Democrat senators as well as solid gay rights supporters. That’s interesting because Hagel is to the right of San Francisco 49ers safety Chris Culliver on gay rights. But hopefully as they say, “It gets better”!

Speaking of the big game, Beyonce rolled the sound check people from the inauguration under the bus yesterday while explaining why she lip synced. Mrs. Jayzee says she will be performing live at the Super Bowl but personally I think Milli Vanilli would have been a better choice for entertainment.

Well since it’s Super Bowl Weekend I wonder who’s gets to party with Obama’s Uncle? We talked about the president's very un-magnanimous diss of America’s favorite uncle yesterday.

Have a great weekend!
