All spruced up from stem to stern, the 100-passenger Silver Galapagos set sail on September 28, 2013 on her premiere voyage. One of expedition ships operated by Fort Lauderdale, Florida-based super sophisticated Silversea Cruises, the Silver Galapagos sails Saturday to Saturday on seven-day roundtrip voyages from Baltra Island, following either a western or north central route.
Designed for adventurous seafarers who enjoy discovering new destinations, the ship offers complimentary shore excursions with escorts certified by the Galápagos National Park Service), that provide up close and personal encounters with indigenous wildlife such as iguanas, giant tortoises, blue-and red-footed boobies, colorful marine iguanas, sea lions, penguins and Darwin's famous finches.
During her refurbishment the Silver Galapagos underwent enhancements to suites that included walk-in rainforest showers, new vanities, mirrors, wood flooring, flat screen TVs and custom-made mattresses covered in Pratesi linens. Other additions include Wi-Fi access throughout the ship (including all suites) and a new complimentary service providing streaming movies and live television news broadcasts for guests to enjoy on their portable devices. There’s also a new fitness center, massage room, beauty salon, outdoor Jacuzzi, outdoor furniture, and Silversea's signature outdoor dining venue, The Grill (a personal favorite dining spot).
