This coming Sunday, April 6, several of Gospel and R&B’s biggest names will unit in song during the 14th Annual “Celebration of Gospel” taping at the historic Orpheum Theater in Los Angeles. Academy Award® nominated actress Taraji P. Henson will host the night filled with unforgettable traditional and contemporary gospel tributes. “Celebration of Gospel” premieres Sunday, April 6 at 8 P.M. ET/PT. The show was taped last month.
Detrick Haddon and the League of Xtraordinary Worshippers will open the show with a high energy performance of their latest single “Great God” that brought the crowd to its feet. The show also features performances by Yolanda Adams, Hezekiah Walker, J.J. Hairston, Erica Campbell, Tamela Mann and Tasha Cobbs. R&B diva Chante Moore teams with Vashawn Mitchell.
This year’s “Celebration of Gospel” continued the tradition of unique collaborations between the best in soul and gospel music. R&B crooner Kem teams with “Sunday Best” season three winner LeAndria Johnson. India.Arie joins Jonathan McReynolds, while Tye Tribbett joins forces with “Sunday Best” judge Donnie McClurkin. Gospel legend The Rance Allen Group collaborated with SWV.
There will be a powerful tribute to gospel music pioneer Richard Smallwood. Charlie Wilson will share his touching and perform. Dr. Bobby Jones will provide a powerful spoken word moment.
