On Saturday, March 22, the Event Deck at L.A. LIVE hosted the Grill and Chill Presented by DINELA and Stella Artois. The event was a nighttime celebration of different cultures portrayed by cooking over an open flame in the Chef’s Tasting Arena. A diverse variety of chefs including Roy Choi, Michael Cimarusti, Gabrielle Hamilton, Gavin Kaysen, Ludo Lefebvre, Donald Link, Naomi Pomeroy, Paul Qui, Jon Shook and Ricardo Zarate prepared their own special dishes for 650 guests. These dishes featured a charred cabbage with sweet pepper jam; curried chicken and chicken jus; a mommou grilled pork steak sandwich; a Nanh Mi “Tartine” provided; grilled naked cowgirls; and some BBQ Galbi. Meanwhile in Restaurant Stadium, Donald Link even shared and demonstrated his recipe to the audience from his Book, “Down South” along with a cooking demonstration by chefs Jennifer Jasinski and Josiah Citrin.

With the last event of All-Star Chef Classic, Savor the Season Presented by Melissa’s Produce on Sunday, March 23 gave guests a celebration of the ingredients Los Angeles has in abundance. All-Star chefs including Wylie Dufresne, Graham Elliot, Nancy Silverton, Jennier Jasinski, David Myers, Vinny Dotolo, David LeFevre, Josiah Citrin, Alex Seidel, Benjamin Ford, and Waylynn Lucas provided 600 guests with fresh and flavorful tastes from their dishes. These seasonal dishes comprised of wild monkfish cheeks with fennel, mushroom, and smoky mussel; a kale with ricotta salad; a salad of spring green asparagus; grilled trumpet royal mushrooms and warm Dutch yellow creamer potato puree; and the tasty fonuts. All guests were also able to take home recipe cards to recreate these dishes in their own home.

In addition, Savor the Season Presented by Melissa’s Produce allowed kids to participate in culinary activities in the featured kids zone including a mini-fonut baking lesson for 60 children by chef Waylynn Lucas. Los Angeles Galaxy captain Robbie Keane with his wife and son along with actor Misha Collins (“Supernatural”) and his children stopped by to attend Waylynn’s mini-fonut baking lesson. A couple of All-Star chefs also joined in on the fun as French pastry chef Florian Bellanger assisted Waylynn on her baking lesson and Ludo Lefebvre participated with his two children.

Overall, it was an amazing experience and fun was had by all who attended the event. Guests are still raving about the scrumptious food they had and can’t wait to try these dishes in their own kitchen!
