All signs point to Verizon iPhone in 2010

Two recent events inside the last 24 hours are major signs pointing towards an impending iPhone release on the Verizon Network.  There has been speculation since the iPhone’s launch that it would make its way to Verizon, but in the last six months, rumors have gone into overdrive.  The two events that show the iPhone will probably make its way to Verizon by the end of 2010 are reports claiming a new 3G chip is being made for Verizon, and that the Apple Tablet is going to support numerous wireless networks.

There is a report that a new chip is being made for the iPhone 3G by Qualcomm, a popular tech company that recently landed Google’s Nexus Phone chips.  These chips seem to be made for the Verizon network, and the consensus from numerous analysts is that the iPhone will come to Verizon by the end of 2010 after Apple’s contract of iPhone exclusivity ends with AT&T.

It was also announced this morning that the Tablet is going to work on multiple wireless networks.  This gives it better functionality, as well as appealing to a higher percentage of users as more networks are being used.  This can also be viewed as a precursor to Apple’s new strategy when it comes to exclusivity, as the popular consensus seems to be that signing the exclusivity deal with AT&T was a big mistake.

With the announcements today that the Tablet is going to be available for use on multiple wireless networks including Verizon, and the Qualcomm announcement, it seems like a sure thing that Verizon will get the next iPhone.  The only question that remains is whether or not the iPhone will be available on all wireless networks or solely Verizon.
