According to statistics, motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death for teens especially in their first year of driving. In a big effort to end this trend, State Farm Insurance group has created a rather unique and prosperous opportunity for teens and schools to get on board with safe driving habits with the theme this year called Celebrate My Drive.
As part of Celebrate My Drive, schools across the nation have until midnight Oct 17th to register for the opportunity to win some pretty awesome prizes including $25,000 and $100,000 grant money or a grand prize of a Celebrity concert with Kelly Clarkson. All in all State Farm will be awarding $3.2 million in awards.
During the week of National Teen Driver Safety Week of October 18-26, students, teachers, administrators, parents and community members are all encouraged to sign the pledge of "No Texting While Driving" daily. The schools with the most participation of course will be the winners of the amazing prizes.
Although the prizes are awesome, the fact that kids are learning the dangers of texting and driving and are committing to drive safe and help save lives is perhaps the greatest prize of all.
Of course as parents, teachers and community members all should commit to the No Texting While Driving campaign as well to help live as good examples for our teens and in turn help save lives.
