As my loyal readers know, I was down in Waterville this past weekend at Spellbound to do some card flopping with my buddies Frosty and Gwyd. For the two of them this was their first tournament experience and they both had a good time. For me this was the first tournament I had played in since Toronto, but even with being a few months out of practice I just missed the cut off to top four because of breakers and ended up finishing the day in sixth place.
Currently I'm playing a variation of Reanimator that uses the Angel of Glory's Rise/Fiend Hunter combo as the engine for a kill with Burning-Tree Emissary and Undercity Informer to mill out my opponent.
So here's the list and the changes I plan to make with it before I run it again.
Lands
1x Cavern of Souls
1x Clifftop Retreat
2x Dragonskull Summit
3x Evolving Wilds (Needs to become more Rav Duals)
2x Forest
1x Godless Shrine
2x Mountain
2x Overgrown Tomb
1x Plains
2x Rootbound Crag
1x Sunpetal Grove
2x Swamp
1x Temple Garden
2x Woodland Cemetery
Creatures
4x Angel of Glory's Rise
4x Burning-Tree Emissary
4x Fiend Hunter
1x Kessig Malcontents (Okay this is going to become a Huntmaster of the Fells. Frosty needed my for the tournament so I was running this card instead.)
4x Undercity Informer (With Burning-Tree Emissary this creates the infinite loop to mill out my opponent. I could just go over to the infinite life and dudes loop once I get three more Huntmasters.)
Spells
4x Faithless Looting
2x Farseek
4x Grisly Salvage
2x Jarad's Orders
4x Mulch
4x Unburial Rites
Sideboard
3x Ancient Grudge
3x Blasphemous Act – I'm thinking this is the weakest link of the sideboard. All weekend I never had a reason to bring it in so I'm going to try replacing this with Witchbane Orbs.
3x Cathedral Sanctifier
3x Pithing Needle
3x Ray of Revelation
I really think if I was running Witchbane Orb I would have easily taken a top four seat and walked home with some packs. Still the deck is a lot of fun to play. Granted, I am a combo/graveyard mage so I'm a little bias towards the deck. Anyways remember to follow me so you can get email updates when I post new articles. Thanks for reading.
That's all for this week, this has been...
