It appears that Obama’s Bureau of Land Management (BLM), like the ATF and EPA, is not what most folks think. When these three agencies were created, Congress apparently gave them a free hand, with no oversight, to create rules (laws) at will, without those laws having to pass Congress. We have certainly seen the results of these rules, because of no oversight. Katrina (ATF) , the BP oil disaster (EPA), Waco et al.

As it turns out, Constitutionally, the Federal government is NOT allowed to own land outside Article 1 § 8 Clause 17 which states:

To exercise exclusive Legislation in all Cases whatsoever, over such District (not exceeding ten Miles square) as may, by Cession of particular States, and the acceptance of Congress, become the Seat of the Government of the United States, and to exercise like Authority over all Places purchased by the Consent of the Legislature of the State in which the Same shall be, for the Erection of Forts, Magazines, Arsenals, dock-Yards, and other needful Buildings

That being the case, the BLM has absolutely no authority over any State’s property/land. In addition, the BLM started up the tortoise sanctuary southwest of Las Vegas, NV and then quit funding it. Which begs the question, what does the closing of a MISMANAGED tortoise sanctuary over 70 miles from the Bundy Ranch have to do with the Feds openly attempting to steal the Bundy cattle. In addition, the BLM are allegedly euthanizing hundreds of these tortoises when it would be much cheaper just to turn them loose.

Needless to say, the BLM has now come under the scrutiny of Congress. Better late than never.

Dirty Harry's involvement?

Lastly, it appears that the tortises are not an endangered species, and are not under threat by cattle, but actually benefit from the cattle.
