All Fur Love Valentine’s Dinner and Gift Auction coming up

Here’s an opportunity to plan a Valentine’s night out with that special someone and help animals at the same time. All Fur Love Animal Rescue, Inc. will be hosting their second Valentine’s Dinner and Gift Auction on February 7, 2013. The event will take place at Our House Restaurant and Banquet Facility in Farmingdale, New Jersey, from 6-10 p.m.

This event will honor Sea Bright Mayor Dina Long and Police Chief John Sorrentino for their dedication to protecting Sea Bright’s community cat population despite the tremendous devastation faced by the town after Hurricane Sandy. They were also instrumental in instituting the town’s TNR (trap-neuter-return) ordinance and have been inspiring advocates for the local animals.

“Dina and John have shown true courage and compassion” said Francesca Alexander, president of All Fur Love Animal Rescue, Inc. “Despite the overwhelming responsibility of leading the people of Sea Bright following complete disaster, they remained steadfast in their dedication to protecting the animals. They are true heroes.”

Francesca Alexander worked with the two honorees several years ago when she was in charge of the TNR project in the town of Sea Bright. TNR is a humane method of population control for feral cats. The animals are caught, spayed or neutered, given shots and veterinarian care. They are then returned to their colonies under the watch of local caretakers. The process controls the feral cat population, eliminates nuisance behaviors and reduces the transmittal of diseases such as rabies. It costs less and is much more effective than the traditional, cruel and old school technique of catching and killing cats, which is still employed by most towns today.

The event will bring together animal advocates throughout central New Jersey and beyond for a fun-filled evening which includes the Our House buffet dinner, music and an opportunity to win one or more prizes collected for the gift auction. It will support the mission of All Fur Love Animal Rescue with a portion of the proceeds going to help the care of the community cats of Sea Bright, New Jersey.

All are invited to participate in the event to support this worthy cause. Businesses can also get involved by taking advantage of available sponsorship opportunities. In addition, individuals who can’t attend the event but wish to help support All Fur Love Animal Rescue are encouraged to send a donation.

The rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, all volunteer, no-kill animal rescue organization. It was started by Francesca Alexander after she became familiar with the policies and principles of animal shelters and animal control organizations. She felt that the strategy of killing adoptable animals was an antiquated, unnecessary and cruel component of the animal control community and wanted to create an organization that saves animals from these and other life threatening situations.
