All dogs are URGENT (Photos)

ACCT, the City's only large volume intake shelter, is once again filled to capacity with dogs. Despite the most enthusiastic and dedicated efforts of staff, volunteers and local rescue partners, dogs are still pouring in, 40 in the last 24 hours alone. All dogs are in danger of being euthanized for space, from the cutest puppies to the sweet seniors and all of the amazing dogs in between.

It is only $40 to adopt an adult dog during March. The best way to see who is the perfect fit for your home is to go right to 111 W.Hunting Park Avenue (bring any dogs in the home to ensure the right good match). Adoption hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekends and 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday. All other adoption details can be found on the ACCT website along with an adoption application. If you need help or have questions, call 267.385.3800 or email adopt@acctphilly.org for more information. Map and directions are here.

The shelter is also in desperate need of foster homes. If you want to see if you are prepared for a permanent pet, now is the time to try your hand at fostering. Foster hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., 7 days a week. Go to ACCT's fostering page for details and fill out an online or downloadable application. Foster homes receive the full support of the shelter and their excellent veterinary staff provide for all medical needs. Additionally, there is often food available at ACCT, free to foster homes. Email foster@acctphilly.org with questions or to request any additional information.
