The 2014-15 fall-winter season is rapidly approaching, and all seven area centers are currently involved in singing up prospective bowlers, in addition to hosting organizational meetings for the various leagues.

A full schedule of leagues is being offered at Sarasota Lanes, three AMF centers (Bradenton, Gulf Gate and Venice), two Port Charlotte houses (Bowland Port Charlotte and Treasure Lanes, and yes, Englewood Bowl.

Despite a number of unsubstantiated rumors and presumptions that Englewood Bowl is about to close its doors for good, that center is proceeding full speed ahead with plans for the pending league season.

"We're definitely going to be open for the (2014-15 fall-winter) season," said Englewood Bowl proprietor Jesse Jones. "Despite various rumors, including one that the center is about to be turned into office space, it will be business as usual this season."

Jones added that there are still openings for mixed leagues on Monday, Wednesday and Friday nights, and would-be participants can sign up at the center or call (941) 474-5265.

The Englewood center does not have a functional Web site at present, but each of the other area establishments have a Web site that offers full information about signups for fall-winter competition.
