'All-American Muslim' cast talks 9/11

Last Sunday's episode of TLC's All-American Muslim, the first reality television show depicting Muslim Americans in Dearborn, Michigan, was filmed on the tenth anniversary of the 9-11 Tragedy.

Members of the cast shared a variety of thoughts and feelings about 9-11, and life in the aftermath, in what is the second-to-last episode of the series.

Largely, the mention of Osama Bin Laden elicited anger from the Muslims on the show with one  woman saying of the now demised militant, "He ruined it for us.  He ruined it for our kids. He made us scared in our own homes."

Mike Jaafar, a Dearborn deputy sheriff, reportedly cried while recalling police officers' deaths in the attacks on the World Trade Center.  Other cast members felt that 9-11 forces all Muslims to share the blame for something they never did and do not condone.

All-American Muslim premiered in mid-November to decent ratings and recently prompted controversy when the Lowe's home improvement franchise pulled its advertising from the show.  By succumbing to pressure from conservative groups Lowe's has suffered huge backlash and has been the object of protests and boycotts around the nation.

The last episode of AAM will air Sunday at 10 p.m. EST on The Learning Channel.
