It’s that time of year again when beards are as much as a statement as they are a facial warming element. The 2nd Annual Beard Wars has arrived! Let’s remember the objectives – to encourage, challenge or inspire men to grow their beards and drink lots of yummy brews!
When I see people at work, church or pass them on the street and for some, it looks as though a small, furry animal has clung to their face; I consider it a beard success story. Not everyone can grow a full beard; and I feel like if you have this gift, you shouldn’t let it go to waste and shave off something your body was destined to have. Then again, not everyone has enjoyed the hot Northern Michigan summers. What’s important, is the courage and dedication one has to go through the beard growing experience at least once.
This Saturday, Brewery Ferment will be hosting a contest for ‘The Best Beard’ in Traverse City. To enter the competition, you must stop by and give owners, Dustin Jones, Kirsten Jones and Carly Anderson your name, phone number and email – let them snap a picture to further investigate the best beard against your competitors.
Please stop in sometime between Noon -10 pm to enter! The winner will be announced at 10 pm!
In addition to Beard Wars, Brewery Ferment will be hosting the Traverse Bay Blues rugby team for their recruit social. If anyone is interested in joining the team, or finding out more about them, stop in to meet the players and enjoy a local beer!
Owned by brother and sister, and a close family friend, Brewery Ferment is an inviting, casual neighborhood brewery that is truly all about the beer. Blending together traditional styles and techniques with a new world approach to brewing, influenced by traditions throughout the world, but still remaining true to Northern Michigan, Ferment has one of the most unique selections on draft. Tucked away in Old Town, locals believe the owners hit home, emphasizing their Midwestern roots.
“We aim to make the most of what local growers have to offer, brewing with Northern Michigan ingredients as much as possible.”
Among their amazing brews, Ferment offers a small unique tasty menu, live music and a homey atmosphere. Visitors are welcomed to bring in food from local certified kitchens.
Daily specials include: Service Industry Night - $1 off Pints on Monday; Worker’s Wednesday, with $3 pints of flagship cream ale; and Happy Hour, Monday – Friday 4-6pm and Saturday Noon – 2pm.
Not big on drinking alcohol? That’s okay. Besides the tasty treats that Ferment has to offer, they also have a wide selection of handmade merchandise. You can come in and visit the taproom, mingle and check out the artwork, or go online to www.brewery.ferment.etsy.com. Custom orders welcomed!
Stop in this Friday, have a pint, mingle with the rugby team, judge the Beard Wars, compete, play some darts and enjoy your evening at Brewery Ferment – where you’ll be sure to notice the local difference.
