Alison Sweeney announced on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” on Monday that she is leaving “Days of Our Lives” after 21 years on the show. The Los Angeles Times reported the announcement of the daytime actress on Jan. 21.
Sweeney told DeGeneres that she plans to leave the daytime soap sometime later this year. She admitted that she’s had a two-week vacation only once during her time on the show. Sweeney was only 16 years old when first appeared on the NBC soap.
Her reason for leaving the show is to spend more time with her family. Sweeney also wants to makes time for her daughter, 5, and son, 9.
Sweeney won’t be completely gone from the television world. She will still host “The Biggest Loser” on NBC. She’s been a host on the hit reality show for the past seven years.
Alison Sweeney has some other projects lined up. She’s currently writing a follow-up to her first novel, “The Star Attraction”, which came out last year.
