Update: The game has officially been announced for the PS4, Xbox One, PS3, Xbox 360 and PC plus the debut gameplay trailer has also been released.

Alien: Isolation will be a survival horror title versus the run and gun shooter of Aliens: Colonial Marines and other shooters in the franchise. Development is being handled by Creative Assembly which is most well knwon for the Total War real-time strategy franchise.

"Discover the true meaning of fear in Alien: Isolation, a survival horror set in an atmosphere of constant dread and mortal danger," the official description reads. "Fifteen years after the events of Alien, Ellen Ripley’s daughter, Amanda enters a desperate battle for survival, on a mission to unravel the truth behind her mother's disappearance.

"As Amanda, you will navigate through an increasingly volatile world as you find yourself confronted on all sides by a panicked, desperate population and an unpredictable, ruthless Alien. Underpowered and underprepared, you must scavenge resources, improvise solutions and use your wits, not just to succeed in your mission, but to simply stay alive."

Alien: Isolation has been confirmed for the PS4, Xbox One, PS3, Xbox 360 and PC by Sega and will be released in the second half of 2014.

“In Alien: Isolation, we have taken the series back to the roots of Ridley Scott’s 1979 movie, the original survival horror,” Creative Assembly’s creative lead Alistair Hope stated.

“Our Alien is a truly terrifying creature, as intelligent as he is hostile, relentless, brutal and unstoppable. This is the Alien game fans of the series have always wanted.”

Twentieth Century Fox’s consumer products president Jeffrey Godsick added: “Creative Assembly has created a truly incredible gaming experience, capturing perfectly the very core of what has made the Alien franchise remain relevant after 35 years. This partnership has led to the creation of a game that is simply outstanding and sets the tone for what is to come this year for the 35th anniversary of Alien.”
