UPARS is dedicated to the study of UFO, paranormal and related phenomenon so that people may better understand the Universe and our role within. The group is open to anyone with an open mind.

Beckerman will speak on Tuesday, July 15, 2014
at 8:00 p.m. held at the Unitarian Universalist Church at
12355 Moorpark St. in Studio City, CA with a cost of $15 per person.

Flying humanoids, past life regression and hunting bigfoot are recent lectures that have been explored at UPARS, which is run by pilot and real estate man Steve Murillo.

"Alien Abduction" is being released this year in theaters and director Matty Beckerman will be on hand for Q & A after the screening.

The story focuses on locals who have heard stories of lights in the sky over Brown Mountain for more than 800 years, dating back to the Cherokee and Catawba Indians. Such sighting of the lights are accompanied by disappearances, and many have suspected they are UFOs.

While on a camping trip, youngest son Riley—who is autistic— sees mysterious lights in the night sky, which he is able to record on his hand-held video camera. The film is the recovered footage from the boy’s camera and what happens to the family.

The project was produced by Lawrence Bender (Inglourious Bastards, Pulp Fiction) and Mike Fleiss (Hostel, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, The Bachelor), along with Beckerman himself and his wife Cathy under their production company called BIG PICTURE. It was written by Robert Lewis based on a story by Beckerman.

Murillo ran the local LA MUFON LA (Mutual UFO Network) chapter at the same location for more than a decade. It is made up of scientific investigators and people interested in paranormal research. In order to expand their mission of interest beyond UFOs, this new group includes paranormal phenomena and other unexplainable things such as time travel, government conspiracies, alien contact and other other-worldly phenomena. At least 50 to 100 people attend each meeting.
