The singing sensation that is Alicia Keys can finally add a new title to her growing resume: movie producer.

Coming October 11th, Alicia Keys’ name will appear as an executive producer for the emotional new film “The Inevitable Defeat of Mister and Pete.”

The story revolves around two boys who attempt to navigate the city of New York one summer without parental supervision. The film stars Skylan Brooks and Ethan Dizon and will feature Jennifer Hudson, Jeffrey Wright, Jordin Sparks, and Anthony Mackie as well.

But Keys won’t just be producing the film. The “Empire State of Mind” singer will also be composing it, as well.

Keys, who is best known for singing heartfelt ballads like “Fallin” and playing the piano to rave reviews, sat down with Hit Fix recently to discuss how having the responsibility of being the film’s producer changed her perspective in how she wanted the audience to connect with the music.

"It was definitely a new experience for me," Keys told the beloved pop culture website. Keys said that for her, composing the movie came down to one main thing.

"I wanted to make sure that I was approaching it from a place of emotion." Keys reiterated that she placed a premium on the film’s score eliciting emotion because the film "takes you on such an emotional journey."
