Alicia Keys moved from her New York City penthouse, and it took a giant crane to get the job done. The $15 million condo must have been filled with fancy furniture and musical gear. The singer hired a construction crane to offload containers of stuff from the top floor and deliver it to the ground, reports TMZ on Sunday, March 17.
It is never easy to move in Manhattan. NYC is crowded and noisy and often dirty, and carrying elegant furniture down more than a dozen floors, even in freight elevators, is a sure way to ruin the upholstery. Alecia Keys’ movers might have handled a grand piano in one of those cargo containers. For sure, there were racks of elegant evening gowns. Think of the dishes and wine glasses. Mirrors. There is no word on exactly what the singer and her husband, Swizz Beats, moved, but it had previously filled 6,000 square feet of living space.
The condo penthouse had once belonged to Lenny Kravitz. Alicia Keys bought it in 2010, but now it has been re-sold, and she and Swizz are moving to a larger mansion in nearby New Jersey. This house also has a previous owner in show business. The place formerly belonged to comedian Eddie Murphy.
Real estate, like the rent, comes high in New York, but entertainers keep the ball rolling by selling to each other. May everyone enjoy their new view.
