Alicia Keys Super Bowl 2013: Keys Belts Out 'Star-Spangled Banner' in Red Gown
Just before Keys sang, 26 children from Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn., joined Jennifer Hudson in singing "America The Beautiful" as part of the "CBS Kickoff Show". The children's chorus made for an emotional pre-game opener, especially when followed up with our national anthem.

Seated at a white Yamaha piano placed within the NFL logo at the 50-yard-line of the Mercedes-Benz Superdome football stadium, pianist and pop singer Alicia Keys prepared herself with a deep breath. Then, she sang for millions of people.
While it wasn't the most incredible, perfectly-perfect performance of the "Star-Spangled Banner" we've ever heard, Keys did quite well and her version of our national anthem was moving. "The arrangement made it a bit hard for fans to sing along," noted Valerie W. of Oro Valley as she watched the performance from a Super Bowl party in Tucson.
