It was an evening of sadness in part at the 54th Annual Grammys. The Sunday award show had musicians of every genre come together for what was to be the happiest day in music. However, with the passing of Whitney Houston only a night before, hearts were heavy with grief. The performance of A Sunday Kind of Love definitely had people in the audience wiping tears from their faces as sadness grew quickly.
One of the emotional first moments of the show had to be the Alicia Keys and Bonnie Raitt performance. Together the two entertainers sanga very moving version of the single A Sunday Kind of Love. While the performance originally was for Etta Jones, the two entertainers also felt it appropriate to include the memory of Whitney Houston as well.
Being that the live coverage of the performance was soft and definitely emotional, after the show cut to a commercial, some of the audience members found comfort in hugging each other as the news of losing Whitney Houston was still very difficult for many people at the Staples Center.
