Alicia Clifton, Miss Oklahoma, finished third in the Miss America pageant which aired on Jan. 12. She finished behind Miss Carolina and the new Miss America, Mallory Hagan, according to Channel 4 New York.
Alicia Clifton won the talent competition in the Miss America pageant. Like the new Miss America, Mallory Hagan, her talent was tap dancing. Before becoming Miss Oklahoma, Alicia Clifton was crowned Miss Edmond LibertyFest.
“I'm surprised she didn't win,” Carolyn Winters, from Oklahoma City, said. “She is very articulate, talented and beautiful. I can't help but wonder if Hurricane Sandy had anything to do with the win. Miss New York was great, but not as great as Alicia Clifton.”
Alicia Clifton, the 21-year old from Oklahoma City, is two years younger then Mallory Hagan, who is from Brooklyn. Alicia Clifton attends the University of Oklahoma as was a junior when she was crowned Miss Oklahoma in June of 2012. Her platform was “lifelong volunteerism.”
Alicia Clifton was feeling the pressure of competing shortly after being crowned Miss Oklahoma. Historically, Miss America contestants from Oklahoma have done quite well. Oklahoma is tied with Ohio and California for most Miss America titles.
