Alice from 'The Brady Bunch' dies at 88

On the opening of episodes of "The Brady Bunch," she appeared in the middle of the big square that featured the other cast members, Carol and Mike Brady, Greg, Peter, Marsha, Jan, Bobby and Cindy. The show's beloved housekeeper Alice Nelson, otherwise known as actress Ann B. Davis has died at the age of 88.

Davis reportedly died after hitting her head during a fall in her bathroom in San Antonio.

The hit TV show aired from 1969 to 1974. In syndication, it continued to grow the Brady fan base.

Davis played Schultzy the secretary on "The Bob Cummings Show." In 1994 her "Alice Brady Bunch Cookbook" was published, featuring her collection of 280 recipes.

According to her biography, she started out in pre-med at the University of Michigan but was inspired to act after seeing her brother perform in a production of the musical "Oklahoma."
