Alice in Chains, Deftones, and Mastodon are combining forces starting in September to embark on a North American tour labeled BlackDiamondSkye. The tour name is a mash-up of the bands latest releases: Black Gives Way to Blue, Diamond Eyes, and Crack the Skye. The tour kicks off September 16th right here in Chicago at the Charter One Pavilion.
This marks Alice in Chains second headlining tour in the States in support of Black Gives Way to Blue. The record has already scored number one hits on the Billboard Rock Songs chart with singles “Check my Brain” and “Your Decision.” The release is the first with new singer William DuVall, which resurrected the band since original singer Layne Staley’s death in 2002.
Deftones long-awaited release, Diamond Eyes, will be available for purchase next week Tuesday. It marks the 6th full-length studio release from the band, who recorded the album after bassist Chi Cheng sustained a brain injury due to a car accident back in 2008. Singer and guitarist Chino Moreno labels the new record as “optimistic” and you can stream the record in its entirety before its release at this location.
Mastodon’s latest studio release, Crack the Skye, has already been critically praised since its release and initially entered the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart at number 11.
You can find both albums from Mastodon and Alice in Chains, as well as the Deftones on May 4th, via iTunes.
Before the BlackDiamondSkye tour begins, Mastodon and Deftones will be hitting up the Rock on the Range festival in Columbus, Ohio on May 22nd and 23rd. Click here for more info regarding the fest.
