Alice In Chains bassist Mike Starr also from Celebrity Rehab has died

Mike Starr, the original bassist for the band Alice In Chains has died at the age of 44. His body was found inside a home in Salt Lake City, Utah this afternoon. Starr was recently in the news for being arrested last month for felony possession of a controlled substance. He was carrying an bottle of narcotics which he did not have a prescription for. The medication found on him was an anti-anxiety drug called Xanax and a painkiller called Opana. 

Mike Starr and Travis Meeks were scheduled to perform in Jacksonville, Fl at Brewster's Pit on March 17, 2011. Their band is called Days of the New and Mike Starr was new to the band.

Mike Starr was on the 3rd season of Celebrity Rehab With Dr. Drew Pinsky in 2009. Mike also appeared on the last season of Celebrity Rehab as an example of a Celebrity Rehab success story. 

 Dr. Drew once said,

”Mike Starr’s addiction is so profound that I always have to be prepared to expect anything.”

"Devastating to hear of Mike Starr succumbing to his illness. So very sad. Our prayers are with his family,"

Mike Starr's father spoke with TMZ and said, 

"It's a terrible shock and tragedy."
