Interested in learning about one of the branches of British Traditional Witchcraft? If you're looking for a mystery tradition modeled after the "old guard" Wiccan Traditions that started with the New Forest covens, you may be in luck.
The Axis Mundi Outer Court, the Alexandrian tradition coven here in Atlanta that is open to seekers, is starting another round of their in depth and intensive Alexandrian Seekers Training Courses. The Alexandrian tradition is different from other neo-pagan groups, and what many pagan traditionalists refer to as "True Wicca". This is a mystery tradition, meaning that much of their practices, beliefs, and information are not shared publicly, but instead available only to members of the coven.
The training course is designed to give interested participants a good background on the tradition, so the seeker may accurately judge if they'd be interested and capable of following that particular path. As shown on their Witchvox listing, classes include:
• The Tradition: Definition, History, Core Beliefs, the Role of Clergy, Initiations, Covens, Lineage, the Book of Shadows, Holidays and Ethics
• The Deep Mind: Symbolism, Starlight Vision and Poetic Thought, Living One's Myth
• The Etheric Keys: Praxis, Egregore, the Purpose of Tradition
• The Craft: Group Work, Polarity, the Witch's Pyramid, Craft and Ritual Etiquette and the Purpose of Ritual
• Theology of the Wica: The Goddess and God of Witchcraft, Indwelling Divinity, Cosmology and the Wheel of the Year
• Practical Skills: Meditation, Visualization, Prayer, Grounding, Centering, Shielding and Daily Rites
• Essential Reading: Covering the Practice of our Craft, its Founders and the Legacy of the Alexandrian Tradition.
Classes are held on Sundays twice a month. There is no fee for attending the course, but all materials and books are the student's responsibility. Students who attend all classes and seem to have a firm grasp on the subjects covered may (at the instructor's discretion) receive information on how to apply to become a full member of an Alexandrian coven.
