Many Alexandrian's in the country music culture will miss the late Mindy McCready. She was a beautiful and vivacious country music star that had seen her share of troubled times. She was found dead on her front porch in Arkansas suffering from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. She had killed her dog as well. Singer of songs like “Guys do it all the Time” and “10 thousand Angels” with a voice very much like that of an Angel; McCready just lost her boyfriend about a month ago.
She suffered from addiction and she was dealing with child custody issues as well. McCready was seeking help for her issues of addiction and mental illness. She was still very unstable. This was not the singer’s first attempt of suicide. Mother of two young children, 6-year-old Zander and 9-month-old Zayne, reportedly just couldn't deal with life anymore.
The judge over McCready’s case demanded that McCready be admitted to a rehabilitation facility for no less than three weeks. He stated “There is cause to find there is clear and convincing evidence that Respondent is in imminent danger of harm to herself or others, suicidal or gravely disabled. Billy McKnight who is the father of Zander filed motions one week ago asking for a full investigation on Mindy’s parenting abilities. Both of McCready's boys were subsequently removed from the home by the State through family services.
McCready’s children were removed from the home not too long ago. While she was forced in to rehab, she left prematurely. Her dad filed a petition that exposed a lot of things that her fans did not know. It portrayed a life littered with erratic behavior, prescription drug abuse and alcohol. When her boyfriend died a month ago, she was bedridden and deeply depressed.
She has had a very rocky road. She has had a lot of trouble with the police, and even some issues concerning domestic disturbances. In one incident she never returned her son to her mother after a visit. When the police found her she was found huddled in the closet with the baby.
Tim McCready stated that McCready “Sleeps all day,” He also said that she “Drinks all night and is taking prescription drugs.” He said her hygiene was in poor standing. She was not able to function, and she would not even care for her two young boys anymore. Tim McCready went on to say that Mindy was acting violent, he stated the she “Screams about everything” and he even revealed she had tried to hit him. Tim McCready, though mourning the loss of his daughter stated that the starlit was “very verbally abusive” to her eldest son.
Despite her violent attempts and erratic behavior Mindy’s father stayed with her until Sunday morning. When he left she went out on her front porch and inflected the deadly wound on her dog and then turned the gun on herself. Her father said that when he left "she was in good spirits and seemed to be fine." McCready’s late boyfriend David Wilson’s death is still under investigation.
