Alex Riley was on fire; for a moment.

Going into WWE Night of Champions, the D.C native was the hot pick to win the WWE U.S title from Dolph Ziggler. After the pay per view, he didn’t walk away with the title, just a smaller role on television. Triple H, the “C.O.O of the WWE” announced a few weeks ago that they will start combining the Raw and Smackdown talent for “Raw Super shows.” Having the other programs superstars wrestle on Raw means that it is less time the Raw mid card to get their t.v time. This change is supposed to influence the other change that Triple H said was coming; the tag team division. We have already seen a paring of Kofi Kingston and Evan Bourne along with the stable formation of Dolph Ziggler and Jack Swagger (and soon others) by Vickie Guerrero. Alex Riley is one of the guys getting the leftovers and impromptu six man tag matches, unless creative has something planned for him. The best hope for him is for Riley to turn heel (be a bad guy) and join the stable with Ziggler and Swagger to get more exposure while he works on his move set.

Riley isn’t the only one coming up with less television time. John Morrison is another superstar on the short end of this “Super show” error. Getting lost in the main event shuffle doesn’t help the California boy’s chance of getting a WWE title shot this year. At Hell in the Cell in a few weeks the WWE Championship will be contested by Champ John Cena, Alberto Del Rio and CM Punk in the first triple threat in a Cell. With the Rock coming in at Survivor Series, It will be very interesting to see how they handle the crowded Raw main event. A lot of eyes will be on Riley to see if he gets lost in the ridiculous mess that is the WWE creative.
