Alex Farmer was crowned Miss Ozark Highland 2013, the Miss Arkansas Pageant announced on March 17.
The crowning qualifies Farmer for the Miss Arkansas Pageant. If she wins at the state level, she will represent Arkansas at the Miss America Pageant in Atlantic City.
Farmer was a contestant at the Miss Arkansas 2012 pageant as Miss Western Arkansas.
Others placing high at the local pageant were First Runner-up Chelsea Wilson; Second Runner-up Savannah Valentine; Third Runner-up Logan Moore and Fourth Runner-up Emily Patton.
The pageant was held on March 16 in the Clarksville High School Fine Arts Center.
"The name 'Miss Ozark Highlands' was chosen because of the Ozark Highlands Trail which is one of the top 10 hiking trails in the United States," pageant officials wrote on their Facebook page. "The trail runs across the main division of the Ozark National Forest. In searching for a name that represented the 10-county area encompassed by our pageant (the river valley ranges in the lower mountain areas), this was a natural."
The Miss Arkansas Pageant is scheduled for July 14-20.
