Alex and Sierra lets 'Gravity' pull them back to No. 1 on iTunes

Well, they did it again: "X Factor" finalist Alex & Sierra found themselves atop the iTunes Top 100 Songs list once again. For the second time in as many weeks, the adorable "X Factor" duo, who seem to be well on their way to securing the million-dollar prize and a recording contract, hit No. 1 on the chart. This time they did it with Sara Bareilles' "Gravity."

After the Top 4 semi-finals show on Wednesday night (Dec. 11), eight songs from "X Factor" finalists jumped into the Top 100 -- five from Alex & Sierra, two from Jeff Gutt, and one from Restless Road. Just hours before "X Factor" host Mario Lopez was set to reveal who the Top 3 finalists competing in the finale would be, Alex & Sierra saw a sixth song, their Top 8 cover of Taylor Swift's "I Knew You Were Trouble," find its way into the Top 100.

But "Gravity" was a sure hit from the moment the duo started singing, the performance bringing judges Kelly Rowland and Demi Lovato to tears. Their tears touched off sympathetic lip-quivering from the usually smiling Sierra. They got a standing ovation from everyone on the judges panel but Rowland (possibly a strategic move considering her guy, Jeff Gutt, seems to have positioned himself as Alex & Sierra's chief competitor). And their mentor, Judge Simon Cowell called the performance, especially the last ten seconds, "absolute perfection."

"Gravity" at No. 1 on the iTunes Top 100 Songs chart follows "Say Something," the A Great Big World (ft. Christina Aguilera)'s hit, that climbed into the top slot after the Top 6 performance episode. That song returned to the Top 10 on the coat-tails of "Gravity" as well.

The only act from the Top 4 that didn't see Top 100 action was Carlito Olivero, and with his bottom two finish last week, the signs indicate he will be the last eliminated artist before the finale. But one never knows until the final results are revealed.

The three acts that will move on to the "X Factor" Season 3 finale will be revealed on Thursday evening around 8:55 p.m. EST on Fox Television.

It would be the biggest shocker of the season if Alex & Sierra is not one of them...
