World-renowned DJ and acclaimed Swedish producer Alesso closed out 2013 with an epic grand finale by headlining RPM’s New Year’s Eve extravaganza at Pier 94. The lavish party featured a boundless evening of EDM that perpetuated until the early hours of 6 a.m. on New Year’s Day. Some notable artists performing included: Vic Latino, Clockwork, Don Diablo, Deniz Koyu, and headlining artist Alesso who rang in the 2014 New Year.
With party hats greeting attendants at the door and an open-bar lasting until the stroke of mid-night, a celebratory atmosphere drifted in the air as party goers counted the final seconds of 2013. RPM pulled out no stops in entertainment as confetti and balloons showered onto audience members, pyrotechnics burst ablaze on stage, and dancers dangled from the ceiling to onlookers below.
In an era where DJs continuously jump from one track to another in an assortment of jolts, Alesso provided a uniform set by mixing tracks in similar pitch and beats per minute. The unified and harmonious blend of sounds exhibited prowess in his mixing ability by providing a seamless night of progressive and electro house, unknowing where one track ends and another begins.
The artists intermixed a multitude of personal hits which included his remix of One Republic’s “If I Lose Myself,” “Clash,” “When I See You,” “Years,” “Under Control,” “Calling,” and “City of Dreams.” In addition, he also blended an assortment of some EDM industry favorites that included, Skrillex’s remix of “Wild for the Night,” Calvin Harris’s “Spectrum,” and the Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano’s collaboration with Nicky Romero, “S.O.T.U.”
Alesso displayed humility and gratitude by thanking fans and audience members in a closing statement declaring, “Every single one of you is my best friend because you chose to be with me tonight.” Exhibiting a character both genial and humble, fans immediately supported the artist raucously with applause and cheers.
Alesso’s performance was a part of a series of sold-out parties from RPM that took place at Pier 94 over New Year’s weekend for over 30,000 attendants. Other artists featured at these events included: Zedd, Hardwell, and Major Lazer.
