Alessandra Ambrosio has a sizzling bikini body, thanks to a healthy diet and rigorous workouts. Surprisingly, the Victoria's Secret supermodel claims she has cellulite, and that running stairs helps firm her glutes.
"If I look in the mirror and see cellulite — and I have some —I run the Santa Monica Stairs," Ambrosio told Self. "They're really hard. I'll go up and down the steps four to six times, usually once a week. It definitely helps the butt and legs while you're getting a little sun and fresh air at the same time."
'Make the Most of What You Have'
The 5-foot-9 Brazilian bombshell also works out her butt by doing calisthenics with ankle weights. She said the secret to being sexy is accentuating your positive traits. "Accept what you have and make the most of it," said Alessandra.
In Brazil, it's all about the butt. Some girls naturally have the big round one, and they aren't shy about it — that makes them sexier. Others work out to have it. For mine, I put 5-pound ankle weights on each leg, get on all fours and kick each heel up toward the ceiling. I do three sets of 20. Then I also do three sets of 20 fire hydrants, where you lift each bent leg up and out to the side."
Judging by her fat-free physique, it's hard to tell that Ambrosio is a mom of two who gained 60 pounds with each pregnancy. She slimmed down by following a 1,500-calorie-a-day diet featuring lots of vegetables, fish and green juices.
Alessandra had never dieted before her pregnancies, and said losing the baby weight was really hard. “People kept telling me I would bounce back straight away, but a week after giving birth I still had that balloon belly," she said.
"It was the first time in my life that I had to diet. Before I had my kids, if I gained one or two pounds I would just eat salad and it would be OK. But when I got pregnant with Anja I really went for it with food. I gained 60 pounds, so I had a lot to lose.”
Alessandra's diet these days typically features bacon and eggs for breakfast, sushi and chicken salads for lunch, and dinners of meat, vegetables and some rice. Ambrosio's workout routine includes Pilates, spinning, yoga, calisthenics, and circuit training.
Botched Plastic Surgery at 11
While Alessandra is one of the sexiest women in the world, she's self-conscious about her ears, which became misshapen after a botched plastic surgery at age 11.
“I always knew I wanted to be a model so I decided to have my ears pinned back, because they stuck out a bit," she said. "I found this doctor in my hometown in Brazil who had only done it once before, so I was a guinea pig."
Ambrosio, 33, had to undergo a series of corrective surgeries to undo the damage from the initial botched operation. The harrowing experience made her swear off plastic surgery forever.
“The first few nights, it felt like someone had cut off my ears," she said. "For a year, I had to go back for mini-surgeries. Doctors say they can fix them, but cosmetic surgery freaks me out now.”
While becoming rich and famous thanks to her hot body, Alessandra said looks aren't everything, and she wants to teach her daughter the importance of hard work and being a decent person.
"Having a perfect body isn't everything," she said. "I want my daughter to be nice, have a good education and be disciplined. That's what makes people like her. A perfect butt doesn't make an amazing person. It's about feeling confident."
