Supermodel Alessandra Ambrosio lost 60 pounds after giving birth to daughter Anja by following a 1,500-calorie-a-day diet and working out with a trainer six days a week.
Ambrosio has two children: daughter Anja, five, and son Noah, 19 months. The Victoria's Secret supermodel had never dieted before her pregnancies, and said losing the baby weight was definitely a challenge.
“People kept telling me I would bounce back straight away, but a week after giving birth I still had that balloon belly," Alessandra told Net-a-Porter.
"It was the first time in my life that I had to diet. Before I had my kids, if I gained one or two pounds I would just eat salad and it would be OK. But when I got pregnant with Anja I really went for it with food. I gained 60 pounds, so I had a lot to lose.”
Ambrosio's post-baby workout routine included Pilates, spinning and yoga — the same exercise regimen she does today. Alessandra also stayed active and ate healthy during her pregnancies, sticking mostly to fresh green juices, kale salads and fish.
While Ambrosio is considered one of the sexiest women in the world, she's self-conscious about her ears, which became misshapen after a botched plastic surgery at age 11.
“I always knew I wanted to be a model so I decided to have my ears pinned back, because they stuck out a bit," she said. "I found this doctor in my hometown in Brazil who had only done it once before, so I was a guinea pig."
Ambrosio, 32, had to undergo a series of corrective surgeries to undo the damage from the initial botched operation. The harrowing experience made her swear off plastic surgery forever.
“The first few nights, it felt like someone had cut off my ears," she said. "For a year, I had to go back for mini-surgeries. Doctors say they can fix them, but cosmetic surgery freaks me out now.”
