An 814 series by Mike Aleshire and perfect games by William Farmer and Ed Swietek are the headline performances in this week's high-score report for the Sarasota-Manatee-Charlotte County area.
Aleshire fired games of 279, 290 and 245 en route to an 814 series in the After Hours Bail Bonds/Advanced Home Improvement League at AMF Venice. It marked his third 800-plus series of the season in that league -- after back-to-back 814 and 805 sets in October -- and it upped his average to a blistering 239.
Farmer and Swietek both rolled perfect games during this week's session of the Jeffcoat Blueprinting League at AMF Bradenton.
Two area players earned 11-in-a-row honors by rolling consecutive strikes beginning with the first frame, while four others had a first-frame spare before striking out.
Corey Cyr blasted a 299 game to complete a 722 series in the Kays-Ponger-Uselton Men's League at Treasure Lanes, while Jimmy Kuykendall Jr. left a 6-10 on the final ball, settling for a 298 game in the Adam & Eve Mixed League at Bowland Port Charlotte.
Gil Garcia and Geoff Stanek each rolled games of 290 at AMF Bradenton, with Garcia's coming in the Jeffcoat Blueprinting League and Stanek's in the Wednesday Night Mixed League as part of a 746 series.
In addition, Fred Wilson posted a 290 game in the middle of a 676 series in the Tuesday Men's League at Treasure Lanes, and George Barlow had a 290 to open a 713 series in the Guys & Dolls League at Treasure Lanes.
Several far-over-average performances reported
Two bowlers posted far-over-average games during recent play: Wayne Chadwell, with a 107-over 289 in the Yoder's Restaurant League at Sarasota Lanes; and Edward Robinson, with a 101-over 268 in the Kays-Ponger-Uselton Men's League at Treasure Lanes.
Four players rolled series well above their average: Tom Bialecki, a 168-over 738 in the Sun-N-Fun League at Sarasota Lanes; Bill Thomas, a 159-over 627 in the Environmental A/C League at AMF Gulf Gate; Neil Knopf, a 153-over 738 in the Senior Classic at AMF Venice; and Chris Fisher, a 148-over 667 in the Adam & Eve League at Bowland Port Charlotte.
