On January 8, 2012 Kaufman County deputies were sent to a burglary in progress call in the 7000 block of Highway 243 near Kaufman. Citizens reported that people were loading up their car with what seemed to be copper wiring from a vacant house. The quick thinking citizens obtained the license plate number of the suspect vehicle before it drove away from the scene.
The deputies responded immediately and caught up with the suspect vehicle going south on FM 429 near the College Mound Church. After pulling the suspect’s over the deputies spotted a number of plastic buckets in the rear seat that held brass fittings as well as copper and sink fixtures. Upon searching the trunk they located metal shelving, electrical plugs and air conditioning coils. Investigators at the scene found that the residence as well as the guest house had both been burglarized.
According to PIO Pat Laney, “Arrested were Eddie Dwayne King, 39, of Duncanville, Candy Dawn Gray, 35, of Dallas, and Becky Ann Burkett, 53, of Dallas.
