Alec Bradley American Classic Blend

While looking around my humidors the other day, I came across some pre-release Alec Bradley American Classic Blend cigars. I had forgotten all about them. I felt they had aged enough and that it was time to burn them.

The American Classic Blend is comprised of a Honduran Connecticut wrapper, a Nicaraguan binder and filler leaves from Esteli and Condega.

The cigar is available in the following sizes:

  • Corona - 5 1/2 x 42
  • Robusto - 5 x 50
  • Toro - 6 x 50
  • Churchill - 7 x 48
  • Torpedo - 6 1/8 x 52
  • Gordo - 6 x 60

The cigars will come in boxes of 20.

The wrapper is light brown in color, thin veined and has a smooth, leathery feel. The body of the cigar felt firm with no soft spots.

The wrapper has a mild tobacco aroma and the foot smelled of earth and ammonia. The pre-light draw had a slightly sweet flavor and a small amount of resistance.

Once lit, the burn was a little wavy but self corrected very quickly. The draw was good with very little resistance. There was a medium carbon ring and a light gray ash that dropped naturally around the 1 ½ inch mark.

The cigar produced some good smoke volume that had a smooth and creamy mouth feel.

I picked up on some sweet flavors initially and a small amount of spice on the exhale. Further along into the cigar I found a mix of cedar, light coffee and a slight bitterness. There was also a refreshing, tingly finish.

I found the Alec Bradley American Classic Blend to be a medium bodied, medium strength cigar. I felt that the cigar paired well with coffee in the morning and had enough character and complexity to work well after meals and in the evenings with a cocktail.

This was a very enjoyable, well balanced cigar that I would recommend to anyone.
