Besides “Alcatraz” providing some of the best entertainment on TV today, the series is noted for another reason; causing problems at the real Alcatraz National park. Visitors to the park are veering off course and looking for the secret section depicted on the show, which only exists as a set in a studio far away from the Island. This speaks to the show's popularity, which comes from some very creative minds that safeguarded against the predictability factor that tends to spoil any show.
The Sidney Herald is calling “Alcatraz,” a show that delivers “brain busting, yet rewarding story lines.” Anyone that's a fan of this series can tell you that they're right on the money with their critique! The show takes a little bit of the intrigue from some of the more popular shows from the past and spins it into a very orignial plot.
The show progresses using the same complex strategy first experienced on TV with “Lost.” It also offers the same type of paranormal happenings that resemble something out of the “X-Files.” Alcatraz continues to entertain the masses each week while still keeping the main mystery of why everything is happening well hidden. While some of the scenes are reminiscent of a few of the previous hit shows from the past, the bulk of the series is very original.
Instead of unraveling in chronological fashion like the majority of TV series offer, “Alcatraz” is a puzzle and watching the pieces pull together comes with quite a few “ah-ha” moments. It’s not a venue that you can casually watch and catch an episode here and there. You'll need some dedication towards catching all the episodes to fully enjoy what it has to offer.
Connecticut fans of “Alcatraz” can tune in Monday nights at 9pm EST on Connecticut’s Fox Channel to catch the new episodes. Comcast “On-Demand” offers the previous episodes, so if you haven’t seen the show, you can start with the two hour premiere and work your way up to the latest episode.
